Hey there, folks! I’m Daryl Hickman Jr., the big cheese over at Power of One Productions, where we make videos that make you laugh, cry, and maybe even question your life choices.
Back in the day, I was a Nashville native, proudly survived Glencliff High School, and then bam! I decided to take a wild detour into the U.S. Navy for a solid 22 years. My job? Keeping those ships sailing straight and true. I’ve had more ship changes than a sailor has socks—everything from amphibious thingamajigs to sleek cruisers. It was a whirlwind of stress, excitement, and lots of “oh no, not again.”
But you know what kept me sane? TV shows and Movies. Yup, while the sea rolled beneath me, I was rolling through TV shows and movies faster than a torpedo. I developed a passion for film that stuck with me through all those oceanic adventures.
Fast forward to retirement, and I decided to settle in Murfreesboro, cause why not? It’s the next big thing, and hey, they needed a video guru. Only hitch? I was more clueless than a cat in a room full of rocking chairs. So, off to Middle Tennessee State University I went, soaking up everything they could teach me about making things look cool on screen.
By the summer of 2022, armed with a degree and a boatload of determination, I launched into the world of short films and commercials. So here I am, folks—proof that you can sail around the globe, watch a gazillion movies, and still end up behind a camera making magic happen.
